External Storage

info

External storage requires an Enterprise Flex subscription.

In addition to the built-in distributed storage, a Gallium Cluster can connect to external storage providers through compatible Kubernetes CSI (Container Storage Interface) drivers. This allows virtual machines to use volumes hosted on dedicated storage arrays alongside, or instead of, the cluster's local disk pools.

Externally storage is typically delivered via Fibre Channel, NFS, or iSCSI. This is determined by your chosen CSI driver.

Compatible Providers

The following external storage providers are known to be compatible with Gallium Cluster:

  • Pure Storage
  • NetApp
  • HPE
  • IBM Flash System
  • Ceph

Other storage platforms that provide a Kubernetes-compatible Block CSI driver may also work.

Performance and Features

Performance characteristics, available features, and any limitations are determined by the external storage platform and its CSI driver.

Support Coverage

Gallium Support will install the CSI driver on your cluster and validate all functionality required. Ongoing operational support will be provided by Gallium provided your CSI driver is actively maintained by it's vendor.
