Deploying a Gallium Hypervisor

Overview

The Gallium Hypervisor deployment process is straightforward and can be accomplished in a few steps. The system supports installation on computers manufactured since 2015, with flexibility in boot sources including USB keys, SD cards, or dedicated OS disks.

Prerequisites

Before deployment, servers must meet these requirements:

  • UEFI boot mode enabled
  • One or two independent data disks (separate from boot device)
  • DHCP configuration for IP address assignment
  • Internet connection without SSL inspection firewalls

Alternative deployment options exist for evaluation purposes, including virtual machine setup or Digital Ocean deployment.

Deployment Steps

The installation process follows six sequential stages:

  1. Image acquisition — Obtain the latest Gallium image from the Hypervisors management console.

  2. Device preparation — Write the image to your chosen bootable device using tools like Etcher or Rufus.

  3. Server initialization — Boot from the prepared device; the system displays a "Join Code" during startup.

  4. Console registration — Use the Join Code to register the server in your Gallium account under the Hypervisors section.

  5. Storage configuration — Establish a storage pool through the Hypervisor View interface.

  6. VM deployment — Begin creating virtual machines via the Gallium Console.

Each stage builds upon the previous configuration to establish a fully functional hypervisor environment.
