Hardware Compatibility Guide
Overview
Gallium runs on most modern hardware and we provide support on all commercial grade server models from 2015 onwards.
Basic Requirements
The platform needs:
- 32GB boot device capacity
- UEFI boot capability
- Virtualization extensions (VT-x) enabled in firmware
- One or two disks for virtual machine storage (preferably direct OS access rather than through RAID controllers)
Recommended Configurations
Edge Model
- Single-socket CPU with 4+ cores
- eMMC or internal flash boot device
- Two SSD storage drives
- 8GB system memory plus additional capacity for workloads
Edge Pro Model
- Single-socket CPU with 8+ cores
- Dual 120GB SATA SSDs in Hardware RAID1 or dedicated boot device
- Multiple pairs of SSDs configured for RAID10 storage pools
- 16GB system memory plus additional capacity for workloads
Certified Server Models
Tested and supported hardware includes:
- Dell — T and R series (Generation 13+)
- HPE — ML and DL series (Gen 9+), MicroServer Gen10+ and Gen11
- Cisco — C220/C240 (M4, M5, M6) and B200 (M4, M5, M6)
- Lenovo — SR250, SR630, SR650 V3, ST50, and ST250 V3
