Create a Linux Template
Build a reusable Linux template from a QCOW2 disk image. For what each setting means, see Templates.
Create the Draft
- Go to Inventory > Templates and select Create Template.
- Enter a Template Name and an optional Description.
- Set Operating System Type to Linux. Modern Linux distributions include the VirtIO storage and network drivers, so no driver disk is needed.
- Set the Minimum Memory for the template.
- Turn on Cloud-Init Support if the virtual machines you create from this template will use cloud-init.
- Select Configure Disks to save the draft.
Add the Disks
- Select Upload Disk and upload the QCOW2 image the VM boots from. Add it first, because disks attach in the order you add them.
- To give every VM an extra empty volume, select Add Blank Disk and set its size.
Finalize the Template
Select Finalize Template. The template becomes immutable and is ready to deploy.
