Serial Console Access for Linux Virtual Machines

There's a new way to access Linux Virtual Machines on Gallium; the Serial Console. This capability provides out-of-band, text-based access to your VMs from the Gallium Console. It's a faster way to work with Virtual Machines that don't have a GUI.

What is the Serial Console?

The serial console attaches an emulated serial port on the VM and presents it inside the guest as a serial device; /dev/ttyS0 on Linux. Its input and output are tunnelled to your browser through the Gallium Console, so you can watch boot messages and log in even when the VM's networking is unavailable.

The serial console is only available on virtual machines that use a Linux hardware profile as Windows does not provide an interactive serial terminal by default.

Try it today from the VM dashboard by selecting Serial Console.
