Hardware Compatibility Guide

The list of all supported servers for running Gallium

Gallium runs on most modern hardware and we provide support on all commercial grade server models from 2015 onwards.

Basic Requirements

  • 32gb Boot Device

  • UEFI Boot

  • Virtualisation Extensions (VT-x) must be enabled in the system firmware

  • 1 or 2 disks to be used for Virtual Machine Storage

    • Ideally disks should be directly available to the OS and not via a RAID controller. For more information see: Storage Guide

Recommended Configuration for Edge

  • CPU Single Socket 4+ Cores

  • Boot Device eMMC or internal flash boot device

  • Storage Disks 2x SSD drives

  • Memory 8gb of system memory plus the required amount for planned workload

Recommended Configuration for Edge Pro

  • CPU Single Socket 8+ Cores

  • Boot Device 2x 120GB SATA SSD in Hardware RAID1 or Purpose Boot Device

  • Storage Disks SSD drives in multiples of 2 for a Multi-Way Mirror Storage Pool (RAID10)

  • Memory 16gb of system memory plus the required amount for planned workloads

Certified Server Models

The following devices have been tested in our lab and are fully supported

  • Dell Single and Dual Socket T and R series servers from Generation 13 onwards

  • HPE Single and Dual Socket ML and DL series servers from Gen 9 onwards

  • HPE MicroServer Gen10+ and Gen11

  • Cisco C220 and C240 M4, M5, and M6

  • Cisco B200 M4, M4, and M6

  • Lenovo SR250, SR630, and SR650 V3

  • Lenovo ST50 and ST250 V3
