Managing Users
Your organization’s members are managed from the Gallium Console at Settings > Users, a page titled All Users. From here you invite people, see who has accepted, and remove those who no longer need access.
Roles
Every member holds one of two roles, chosen when you invite them:
- Owner: can invite and remove members, in addition to everything a User can do.
- User: can do everything else in the organization, such as managing deployments and virtual machines. A User cannot invite or remove members. This is the default role for new invitations.
Every member can open the All Users page and see who belongs to the organization. Only Owners see the Invite User and Remove User controls.
A member’s role is set at invitation time and cannot be changed afterward.
The Role column also carries two values that describe an invitation rather than a role:
- Pending Invite: the person has been invited but has not accepted yet.
- Invite Expired: the invitation lapsed before it was accepted.
View Your Members
The All Users list shows one row per member:
- Name: the member’s display name. Click it to open their User Details page.
- Email: the address the member signs in with.
- Last Login: when the member last signed in to the Console, or Never if they have not signed in yet.
- Role: the member’s role, shown as a badge.
- MFA: whether multi-factor authentication is turned on, shown as Enabled or Disabled.
The User Details page repeats these details for a single member, and is where you remove them.
Invite a User
- Open Settings > Users.
- Click Invite User.
- Enter the person’s Email.
- Choose a Role by clicking the User or Owner card. User is selected by default.
- Click Invite User.
A User Invitation Sent confirmation appears, and the person joins the All Users list with Pending Invite in the Role column. Their Last Login reads Never until they first sign in.
Invitations expire if they are not accepted. There is no resend or revoke button, so to cancel a pending invitation, remove the row as you would any other member.
Accept an Invitation
How someone accepts depends on whether they already have a Gallium account.
New Gallium Users
Someone without a Gallium account receives an email prompting them to create an account. Once they sign in, they become an active member of your organization.
Existing Gallium Users
Someone who already has a Gallium account accepts from their own profile rather than from the email link:
- Open the profile menu using the avatar at the top right and choose User Settings.
- Find the Pending Invites card, which lists any invitations to join other organizations.
- Click Accept next to your organization.
An Invitation Accepted message confirms they have joined.
Remove a User
Removing a member revokes their access to the organization, and is also how you cancel a pending invitation. Use Remove User on the member’s User Details page, or the remove icon on their row in the All Users list.
You cannot remove your own account.
